The twins were very excited to go back to school. I guess once summer ends, they get bored and want to see their school chums and partake in their schools extra curricular activities. I have never had a problem of getting them up in the morning and they too have a set bedtime so they are well rested for the next morning. My beef is the amount of homework they bring home on a daily basis. I think 3 hours is ridiculous. I can understand having some homework but come on now. Alot of this could have been done during school hours. Girlie Girl is in high school this year, but I find it's even more difficult to get her going in the morning and helping her organize her work. The big issue we really have is the number of school projects this year. Every week she has at least two projects in addition to her regular class work and homework. It's crazy. Also, every other Tuesday they have either a late start or an early release. And they have Friday off every 3 weeks. Who thinks this up and why? The reduction in class hours makes them run over the regular summer vacation time. This year they didn't start summer vacation until the first week of June and returned to school August 16. Remember when break was from Memorial Day to Labor Day? Oh, well. Thank you for posting, I'll give the snack and guided study a try. We also have a daily schedule during the school week.
