Hasbro Great Games Trade-In

For those of us who own a Hasbro game that is missing a part or is broken, Hasbro is offering their Great Games Trade-in throughout September. Using Recyclebank and free shipping labels, you can send in your worn-out games. All games will be recycled in an environmentally friendly way.

Then print out your coupons, up to $83 worth, to buy new Hasbro games, like Scrabble Flash Cubes, Trouble, Bop It XT, Chutes and Ladders and much more. Coupons are good until October 9th and can be used at major retailers.

You’ll be ready for National Family Game Night on September 28th when families all over the US spend time together playing a game. Unplug and reconnect as a family! Children’s Clothing On ShopWiki

You can find children’s clothing on ShopWiki. ShopWiki is like a search engine for online shopping that helps you compare prices and shipping costs. You can search for all types of items there including girls clothing. There’s a size chart, information about fashion, and various categories including all types of winter clothing like hats, boots, tights and jackets.

Don’t forget casual girls clothing especially t-shirts, jeans, shorts and swimwear. That’s what my daughter likes, especially since we’re in a warm climate. I liked that when I clicked on a particular category like jeans that I could filter prices, colors, stores and brands. I wish that I could search by price or size for example to make it easier to find what I wanted, but there are some amazing bargains and they are based in the US too. (There are other countries including the UK, France and Australia among others.)

Finding children’s books was easy too. They were categorized by age, All Time Best Sellers from Publishers Weekly and magazines. Since I’m a book buyer, this is one of my favorite places on ShopWiki. I also liked being able to search for any item by name. I tried Disney girls shirt and found a bunch.

Cook Frugally For Family

Cook frugally for your family and save money on one of the biggest items in your budget – your grocery bill. One way to accomplish this is to buy food items when they are on sale, when you have coupons (if possible) and buy them in bulk. Then plan meals for these foods that are unique so that your family won’t get bored and will eat what you’ve purchased.

For example I buy chicken wings in bulk when they are on sale. I compare shopping prices in advance to be sure that I am getting the best deal possible. Then I research recipes for chicken wings, print them out and make them to cook and use up the chicken wings. Some of the best places that I’ve found recipes is on food blogs. To make this process easier I need to buy one of those freezers to store my bulk grocery items. This way I won’t have to cook things quickly and I can buy even more groceries.

When I look for shopping deals I am sure to only buy what my family will eat. It’s not worth it to buy groceries on sale, even if the sale is the best deal around, if the food will go to waste. I’ve tried covering up chicken thighs with some great recipes but sauces and gravies will only go so far. Don’t get fooled into thinking you can trick your family. It will be a big waste of money.

The savings can go toward paying off bills or adding to a vacation fund. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment when you cook frugally for your family.

Holiday Shopping Made Easy

I’m at the point in my life where I like things to be as easy as possible. I’m old enough to know better and busy enough to make it so. When it comes to holiday shopping what used to be stressful and put me into debt now is done in a few short hours and is kept to a strict budget. How do I accomplish this?

First the planning, which saves time:

I ask for wish lists or letters to Santa from my daughters and son-in-law, my husband, etc, so I know what to shop for or what to ask St. Nick and his elves to get.
I write a list of what I need to buy under each person’s name. I prioritize that list.
I include everyone on the list such as my daughter’s teachers, neighbors, the mail carrier. (Keeping the same list from the year before helps to remember people.)
I sign up for Black Friday sites to get emails to let me know when the ads come out to check on prices.
Shop online to fight the crowds.

To Save Money:

I check out the prices from ads, Google and compare them. If I shop online, which I do most of the time, I look for free shipping or add the shipping costs in.
I look for coupon codes online.
I shop on Black Friday or Cyber Monday to get the best deals. Some stores continue their sales after these dates.

Gift Ideas:

Of course, I most likely buy what is on the wish list, but when those costs get out of hand, I substitute. For example, instead of a Rosetta Stone program, I’ll look for a program that teaches a foreign language but doesn’t come with all of the bells and whistles.
DVD’s are great gifts for all ages, especially holiday ones. They can be watched year after year.
Look for items by price. You’ll find Gifts Under $25 on Staples Holiday Center.

Disney movies are a staple at my house. We watch them all the time. My daughter watches and re-watches them. We watch them as a family. I admit that I watch them on my own too. We have everything from the classics like Snow White to the newbies like Tinkerbell.
